Gas & Coal Watch
Gas & Coal Watch monitors the National Energy Market's fossil fuel power plants for breakdowns, particularly over the summer when generating units are vulnerable.
Most of these breakdowns are in the form of "unit trips", where one of a power plant's units is suddenly, typically unexpectedly, taken off the grid. For more of our research into the growing unreliability of gas and coal, see Can't stand the heat.
Update: Gas & Coal Watch went on hiatus in March and April. Over the next month we will be updating Gas & Coal Watch with unit trips that occurred in those months, as well as new unit trips as they arise.
